Members of Congress (both Represenatatives and Senators) are often asked to make decisions based on a variety of competing factors:
1. the interests of their home states / districts
2. the interests of the nation as a whole
3. the interests of their political parties
4. their own consciences
Which of the interests above do you think should most influence the decisions of Congressmen and women? Explain your reasoning.
Remember to use real-life contemporary and / or historical examples to support your answer.

I think that the congress should be most infulenced by the interests of the nation as a whole because if the congress does not decide on and idea/object of what the nation is interested in the nation would question the congress and the goverment as a whole on the ability to run the country.
Good start, but add examples to support your opinion. Are there some issues that we, as a nation, must tackle as a whole? Which ones? Why can't we resolve these state by state?
2. the interests of the nation as a whole because he should put aside the interests of his political party and do what is best for the country. they shouldnt just vote because its the way their political party swinging or wanting them to vote.
2. the interests of the nation as a whole because he should put aside the interests of his political party and do what is best for the country. they shouldnt just vote because its the way their political party swinging or wanting them to vote. they are usually pressured to vote one way because they are a certain party member. for example if a there is a democrat and all his democratic members are voting for abortion but he knows it is wrong for the country than he will vote against his own party because he knows it is the right thing to do`
